History | In
service with the German Army from 1942 to 1945. At the time of its introduction,
and for sometime afterward, the Tiger 1 was the most powerful tank in the World.
Its thick frontal armour ensured that any frontal shot could not penetrate. The
overlapping wheels gave a soft ride but often froze together and jammed the tracks
in the Russian winter nights. An estimated 1280 were built which is a small number
considering its reputation and effect on Allied morale. |
